Advance Planning

Advance Planning takes the fear out of end-of-life care by empowering you to decide how you would like to spend last days with your pet, on what terms you will assist them through end-of-life, and how they will be remembered.

Advance Planning should be done before your pet receives a life-limiting or terminal diagnosis. Good Advance Planning encompasses all aspects of end of life and afterlife care. We offer a package which includes a free future session, to be used to revise your plan or when a terminal diagnosis has been delivered.

4 x 60 min sessions |  $330

Pet End of Life Doula

Sometimes, your pet is your best friend, your closest ally, and the primary presence in your life. As such, realising that it is time to say goodbye is an incredibly challenging point in your shared journey.

In other situations, your pet may live within a larger family unit, yet you find yourself as the main care giver during its end-of-life journey.

Whatever the circumstance, holding space (or paw) for your animal at end-of-life can be lonely, stressful, and take a profound emotional toll on you individually and those closest to you.

My doula service can be adapted to meet your needs during this time. Be it a listening ear, a silent companion, the holding of space, or someone to accompany you to the final vet visit - there is a service to support you.

End of Life Planning

End-of-Life plans differs from Advance Planning in that they are time critical.
In this instance, planning takes place once a life limiting or terminal diagnosis has been given. As you will have some idea of how long you have left with your pet, we will work together on a care and support plan which honours the life of your animal and the bond which you have shared together.

The number of sessions required will depend on diagnosis and needs. Generally, you should expect between 3-5 sessions.

The first session will be dedicated to the narrative of your life with your animal.

Afterlife Care

How you like to remember your pet is a deeply personal and unique decision.

Death is all too often seen as “the end” of a relationship. However, it can also mark the beginning of a new chapter for you and your pet. It’s all about how you choose the narrative context you give to the death itself.

I have a range of options which we can discuss, from legacy and memorial work, to past-life regression, mediumship, and spiritual beliefs. Each of these are designed to help you explore how best to navigate your mourning experience, to assist in bringing acceptance as you move on into this new phase of life. Your animal may not be with you in the same way - but it can still retain a presence in your life.

Grave Goods*

Ritual is an intrinsic part of providing a good death for your pet. Depending on your specific needs, you may find that there are particular items which you would like to include, to ensure that the funeral and burial process of your animal is one that befits the important place it has held in your life.

Be it a felted coffin, a hand crafted shroud, a garland of paper flowers, a crystal and sage posy, or anything else, I can assist you in acquiring the grave goods you need to ensure the ideal send off for your pet.

*Due to the time and materials required in the production of some grave goods, these products will only be available as additions to Advance Care Plan packages

Dual Advance Planning

It is becoming increasingly popular for humans to be interred with the remains (generally cremated) of their pets. If you are interested in making plans for your own death and burial, I can assist you with the full range of Advance Planning needs to consider. This does not need to be limited to discussion of rules and regulations about interment with animals, but can encompass all facets of planning work.

Based on how much detail you would like to cover, sessions will run between 4-6 discussions, which can last for around 90 minutes each.

Package of 6 sessions |  $475
Package of 4 sessions |  $375

Death Mementos

Death mementoes were an integral part of mourning during the Victorian Era. Often composed of hair, they were a tangible trinket which maintained the bond between living and dead, making sure that though gone, the dead were never completely forgotten.
Similarly, death photography was a common practice, with death images kept or circulated among friends and family who were unable to be present at a burial.

Printed memorial notices and bereavement cards are available as keepsakes, and specific forms of preservation are also an option.

For pet owners who are unable to accommodate burial at home, or who cannot afford the expense of cremation or partial preservation, death mementoes are an affordable and discreet way to hold onto a tangible and visible part of your animal. They bring peace and aide in the mourning process.

Depending on the animal you have lost and what appeals to you, we will be able to find an option that works.

“We owe something to the animals who love us. This is true in life and in death.
